Exhilarating and wild Kenya holidays
Experience the unique romance of Kenya – a land of sun-baked plains, lush forests and expansive grasslands, immortalised in films like Out of Africa and Born Free. For a classic safari experience, there’s nowhere better.
Head out on a thrilling game drive in the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Track the Big Five - lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo - and come face to face with these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Marvel at the colourful spectacle of the thousands of powder-pink flamingos of Lake Nakuru, and admire the gentle grace of the elephants that roam around Amboseli National Park.
It’s not all wildlife, though. Kenya is also home to some of Africa’s most beautiful beaches – picture soft white sands lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. A couple of days beside the water makes the perfect ending to our Kenya safari holidays.

What our experts love about Kenya
There are few spectacles on earth that can match the sheer magnificence of vast herds of wildebeest sweeping across the plains of the Maasai Mara. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest move north from the Serengeti into Kenya's Maasai Mara in search of greener pastures, however they have to make perilous river crossings through crocodile infested waters, before running the gauntlet through awaiting stealth predators on the plains above.
What are the best places to visit in Kenya?

More information about Kenya
The currency used in Kenya is the Kenyan Shilling. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most places except for remote areas – but ATMs should be widely available.
Kenya's diverse landscapes and attractions make it a year-round destination, with each season offering unique experiences. Dry season is June-October and January to February and is considered the best time to visit Kenya for wildlife viewing. The weather is generally dry and sunny, making it easier to spot animals congregating around water sources. The Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras move between Tanzania's Serengeti and Kenya's Maasai Mara, usually occurs during July and August.
Wet season is March to May and November to December. While this season brings rain and possible disruption to excursions, it also means lush landscapes and fewer tourists. This is also a great time for birdwatching, as migratory birds are present in Kenya during this period.
The official languages of Kenya are English and Swahili. English is widely used in business, government, and education, while Swahili is the national language and is spoken by the majority of the population as either a first or second language. There’re numerous indigenous languages spoken by various ethnic groups throughout the country.
We carefully plan our itineraries to avoid unsafe destinations and are constantly referring to government travel advice in case situations change. We will always keep you informed of any issues. That said, it's always worth taking precautions to deter pickpockets when travelling through large crowds or on public transport by making sure your bag has a secure zip and its place across your body. Avoid walking around in the evening alone or wandering anywhere not recommended by your tour manager.
Tipping is customary for good service – around 10% of the bill is common in restaurants. Tour guides and drivers will appreciate a small tip, perhaps a couple of euros per day. Remember that porterage is included in our Spain tours, so there’s no need to tip for bags.
Currently, UK citizens don’t need a visa to travel to Kenya. Requirements can change, though – for the most up-to-date information on visas, please use the quick-check tool on our visa requirements page.
We use 4WD vehicles for our Kenya tours (the best option for Kenya’s often-bumpy roads).
